T
he first grant, for $592, was awarded at Franklin Regional
High School for wireless pH probes for acid/base titration.
Sixty-five (65) AP Chemistry students at FRSH, in grades 11-
12, already perform acid/base titrations as part of the “Aspirin
Synthesis and Analysis” culminating project. The new wireless
pH probes, used in combination with Chromebooks, will give
students additional insight into pH changes during titration.
Students would also have a better understanding of the
importance of acid/base indicator selection as they witness
color changes associated with the indicators corresponding to
shifts.
The second program, receiving $11,000 in funding, is
STREAM Forward. This program will impact 130 students in
grades 3-5 at Newlonsburg Elementary School. The school’s
elementary teachers are piloting STREAM Forward with the
hopes of implementing the program across all Franklin Regional
elementary schools. STREAM Forward will reach students
in grades 3-5 and will build upon their understa
