Helping People Move Forward with Their Lives. ONLINE TAX SAFETY TIPS: • If you get an email claiming to be from the IRS, delete it! Don’t open any attachments or click on any links, and report it to the IRS by forwarding it to [email protected]. • With any online correspondence, hover your mouse over any link you’re considering clicking on to see the true web address it is linking to. • If using an online service to file your taxes, make sure the website you’re using is legitimate and secure. Look for the “https:” as well as other trust marks and a privacy policy. Make sure your computer’s anti-virus, anti- spyware and anti-malware software is current and running. • Use a secure computer and connection to file your taxes. Never use public Wi- Fi to file your return. • Research tax websites before committing to use one to help determine legitimacy of the company or organization. If you are experiencing viruses or other performance issues on your internet- connected devices, seek out a trusted, local computer repair shop to help. Don’t accept help from someone who calls unsolicited or contacts you through a pop-up message on your device.
