RETIRING EMPLOYEES Robert Donikowski, Inspector Emma George, Project Engineer POLICE DEPARTMENT Katrina Kuhl, Police Officer Jonathan Kutterna, Police Officer RETIRING SUPERVISOR, BRIAN MCGRATH • After graduating from Edinboro University in 1978, went to work in the Millcreek Streets Department • Among other duties, ran a road grader, plowed snow and operated the township’s asphalt plant • In 1993, after learning of Paul Martin’s pending retirement, decided to run for Superv isor • Won a close first election in 1993 and three more elections in 1999, 2005 and 2011 • Was a proponent of the much needed Municipal Building Brian McGrath renovation in 1997 • Supported the formation of the Millcreek Paramedic Service and the use of the Local Services Tax to aid the Volunteer Fire Departments • To help alleviate decades of flooding problems, worked to construct six large regional storm-water detention basins • Worked to transform the Harper Dump (a designated Superfund Site) into a golf course and the former Currie Dump into athletic fields • Since 1994, the Township’s parks and recreational areas have dramatically improved and expanded through acquisition of Veterans’ Park, Bridger Park, the Millcreek Golf and Learning Center and Erie Golf Club • Was a driving force behind the Erie Area Council Of Governments, serving as chairman numerous times • Championed the finding of dedicated funding for Regional Assets • Served two terms on the Governor’s Local Government Commission • Served for 10 years on the Executive Board for the Pennsylvania State Association of Township Supervisors, for the past two years as Second Vice-President • Was awarded PSATS’ President’s Leadership Award in 1998 • In 2012, was the recipient of the Governor’s Award for Local Government Excellence • Brian and wife Carol live in northwest Millcreek, their daughter Caitlin and son-in-law Will Gerber live in Hudson, OH MILLCREEK ❘ SPRING 2018 11
