McKeesport honors veterans,
first-responders with
Patriotism Celebration
McKeesport hosted its third annual Patriotism Celebration on
September 10 – inviting McKeesport Area students to march on Eden
Park Boulevard alongside the city’s public safety personnel.
Children wore Lions Club T-shirts in red and blue and waved
American flags as they marched behind Mayor Michael Cherepko, City
Council Vice President Jamie Brewster-Filotei, Councilman Keith Soles
and Councilman Tim Brown. They led a procession of veterans groups,
police, firefighters and emergency medical personnel.
“We take every opportunity to remind individuals in this
community that we live in the greatest country on earth,”
Cherepko said. “Thank you to the veterans who served us so well.”
