Renzie Rib Fest serves food, fun for Labor Day weekend F olks from across Allegheny and Westmoreland counties gathered on the Lions Bandshell grounds for a fun-filled weekend of music, fireworks and regional barbecue from September 1 through 4. The sixth annual Renzie Rib Fest, sponsored by the McKeesport Lions Club, was a big hit with only a few weather-related setbacks. While performers canceled due to weather on September 2, visitors enjoyed music from 8th Street Rox, the Vogues, House of Soul, the Igniters and more. Guests sampled a variety of grilled and smoked barbecue favorites – brisket, chicken, pulled pork, and of course, ribs – from Willie P’s BBQ, P&W BBQ, Rogue BBQ and Generations Catering. The Lions Club served beverages, desserts, gyros and fries. “It’s been another great year for the Renzie Rib Fest,” Mayor Michael Cherepko said. “As always, we hope volunteers from the Lions Club and the recreation board can continue to host enjoyable activities like this for the people of our city and surrounding communities.” McKeesport Area | Fall 2017 | icmags.com 45
