Tuesdays, Sept. 26 and Oct. 24, 6:30 p.m. TERRARIUM DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION Join Allegheny County park rangers at Castle Shannon Library to learn different methods of terrarium design and construction on Monday, Aug. 7, at 7 p.m. From simple decorative terrariums to lush vivariums filled with plants and animals, we will discuss the different styles and methods used for construction and care. Each participant will be provided with all of the supplies to build their own mini-terrarium that they can take home. The session will consist of a PowerPoint presentation, Q&A time, and build time with instruction. Please allow 1.5 hours for the program. The fee is $7. Mayor Fetterman introduced the film. The party also featured hors d’oeuvres from acclaimed chef Kevin Sousa, a cash bar, and an amazing raffle of high-end electronic gear, including turntables, speakers and a grand prize of a home theater system, all curated by Don Lindich, nationally syndicated “Sound Advice” columnist, and donated by regional and national manufacturers. The Hollywood Theater’s 91st birthday party was presented by the Friends of the Hollywood Theater, a 501(c)(3) organization founded in 2011 to ensure that this historically relevant landmark serves movie lovers for generations to come.
