p a r w It’s a 0ers! y 998 s u b n e e b ou’ve Y The Rotary Club of Dunedin Central was overtaken by wizards and fairies, warlocks and princesses in early November, as a crowd of 75 members, partners and friends arrived dressed to impress for the club’s annual charity auction. Rotary’s past district governor-cum-resident magician extraordinaire, Jonathan Usher, dazzled and delighted, deftly juggling his roles of entertainer and auctioneer. Club Public Image Committee chair Vicki Moseley says Rotary supporters had been very generous in backing the night. “Thanks to a lot of people’s kindness, we were able to auction a wonderful array of goodies – everything from signed Dick Frizzell prints, luxury accommodation packages, yachting experiences on Otago Harbour ... and, of course, those treasured imported duty-free potions.” More than $10,000 was raised during the evening, with $9735 pledged to the Rotary Foundation, $550 to support Project Starfish, and, when the top hat was circulated, another $520 was donated to the Rotary Quake Appeal.
