Association (TSA) conference and
qualified to participate in the national
conference in Orlando.
•Seven high school students placed at the
2017 Future Business Leaders of America
(FBLA) State Leadership Conference
and qualified to participate in the national
conference in Anaheim, California.
•Fox Chapel Area School District
publications received awards in the
National School Public Relations
Association (NSPRA) 2016 Publications
and Electronic Media Contest and in the
Pennsylvania School Public Relations
Association (PenSPRA) Excellence in
Education Communications Contest.
District Accepted into Elite National League
of Innovators
Fox Chapel Area School District was accepted into Digital Promise’s National League
of Innovative Schools, one of 19 new districts to join this elite organization.
“While we are thrilled at the opportunities the coveted membership has opened for the
district, our role within the League is one of a contributor as well,” said Superintendent
Gene Freeman, Ed.D. “As an active member in Pittsburgh’s Remake Learning network
and a leader in innovative instructional practices, our district is known regionally and
now nationally for our expertise in infusing digital fabrication, making, and STEAM into
elementary learning experiences.”
•Dorseyville Middle School eighth graders
Harry Chen and Mark Puthenpurayil
placed in the top five percent in the
nation on the American Mathematics
Competition (AMC) 8 exam.
•High school juniors Albert Liu and
Ruopeng Wang and freshmen J. Oliver
Choo and Rajeev Godse were among the
top scorers in the nation on the AMC 12
exam and qualified to take the American
Invitational Mathematics Examination
(AIME).
•Dorseyville Middle School was named the
Pennsylvania winner in the 2017 Samsung
Solve for Tomorrow contest. A top winner
was selected from each state.
