Canon-Mac Spotlight : Recognizing CM Community Members Who Go

ABOVE AND BEYOND

We wanted to recognize some of the many members of the Canon- McMillan community going above and beyond , and doing great things . Congratulations are in order for :
Victoria Crothers and Taylor Kolovich , who , as a result of outstanding academic achievement while attending WACTC , are eligible for membership in the National Technical Honor Society . Alex Davin-Doerschner for winning " Best Manufacturable Design " recently at Inventionland in Pittsburgh . Board President Manuel Pihakis was recognized at the Intermediate Unit # 1 Annual Convention for 15 years of service as a school director . The following wrestlers for placing at the PIAA State Wrestling Tournament : Brendan Furman , state champion ;
Gerrit Nijenhuis , third place ; Logan Macri , fifth place . Director of Business and Finance Joni Mansmann for being elected as the vice president / president elect of the

Pennsylvania Association of School Business Officials . She will serve as president of the organization in three years . Chyna Beck , won the Class AAA 100 hurdles at the WPIAL Championship . Senior Natalie Cummings , who won third-place in the 2017 Law Day essay contest . To the two Canon-McMillan High School teams that took the top spots in the 2017 Washington County Envirothon . Members of CM ' s blue team will each receive a $ 500 scholarships thanks to the event ' s corporate sponsors . Celebrating Emergency Service Day with Blessings in a Backpack of Canonsburg

Blessings in a Backpack of Canonsburg partnered with borough Mayor David H . Rhome and municipal fire , police and ambulance personnel helped celebrate Emergency Services Day May 3 doing something they know about well : Giving back .

The group packed food at South Central and First Street elementary schools for children who are eligible to receive a weekly backpack full of food to help meet their dietary needs over the weekend .
This is the second time this school year that local EMS members have helped pack food for children here in the Canon-McMillan School District .
Blessings in a Backpack organizers thanked all of the participants for volunteering their time to help local kids , adding that all involved are looking forward to continuing the partnership in the 2017- 18 school year .
