North Strabane Township Police Department The North Strabane Township Police Department recently hired two additional police officers, Cory Amhrein and Samuel Interval. Officer Amhrein grew up in the Beaver County area. He attended La Roche College, majored in Criminal Justice, and was a member of the baseball team. As time passed, he felt compelled to serve his country and enlisted in the United States Army. He volunteered for the Ranger Selection and Assessment Program, an intense training course designed to test a soldier’s physical and mental strength under rigorous conditions. He accomplished his goal of becoming an Airborne Army Ranger, one of the highest honors an Army soldier can achieve. When serving with the 2nd Ranger Battalion Special Operations Unit, he was deployed to Afghanistan in support of the Global War on Terrorism. Cory completed his tour of duty and was honorably discharged from the Army. He then married his girlfriend and pursued his lifelong dream of becoming a police officer. He attended the Allegheny County Police Training Academy and shortly after graduation was hired by North Strabane Township. Cory is currently in our Field Officer Training Program. Officer Samuel Interval grew up in Washington, PA and graduated from Washington High School. He attended college at Waynesburg University and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice Administration. He was then hired as a Deputy Sheriff of Greene County and filled that role for one year. Sam continued his pursuit of a career in the criminal justice field by attending Indiana University of Pennsylvania’s Police Academy and was hired in January. He is currently in our Field Officer Training Program. Help save lives in your community Every day seven people die in home fires. Most of these deaths occur in homes that lack working smoke alarms. In an effort to improve those numbers and save lives, the North Strabane Township Fire Department is joining with the American Red Cross campaign called “Sound the Alarm”. As part of the campaign, the Fire Department is installing free smoke alarms, replacing batteries in existing alarms, and providing fire prevention education to homeowners.
