Students Send Care
Packages to Deployed
Air Force Members—
Local Soldier Visits to
Say Thanks
C
ecil Intermediate School students worked hard to show
support for a classmate’s father who was deployed to Qatar,
as well as his entire unit, this past holiday.
Students in Mrs. Pam Farrar’s and Mrs. Charlotte Johnson’s
classes collected about 375 items in all to send over. There was gum
and snack, toiletries and video games.
The students also put their STEM skill to good use, creating
homemade pop-up cards wishing the soldiers
holiday cheer. In the handwritten letters, students
thanked the soldiers for their sacrifice and service
to our country.
That kind gesture was returned this past
January, when one of the local soldiers—
Mr. Karwowski—made a visit to the school,
showing them a presentation complete with
maps and photos of the area in which his unit is
serving.
But that’s not all.
“We were so thrilled to receive a flag from
him that was flown over 16 hours in Iraq and
Afghanistan!” the teachers said.
