Canon-Mac Spotlight: Recognizing
CM Community Members Who Go
ABOVE AND BEYOND
We're putting a spotlight on the
people who have been honored or
gone above and beyond in—and for—
the Canon-McMillan School District
community.
Congratulations to the following WACTC
students for representing their programs
at the SkillsUSA competition this past
December: Roman W. Quinn who
earned second place in Auto Mechanics
and Michael Szewczyk, who was
awarded third place in Automation &
Robotics Engineering.
Congratulations are in order for:
Brianna Stonemark, a Cecil Intermediate
5th grader, who was selected as one of
12 winners of the Pennsylvania Attorneys
General's Drug-Free calendar contest.
Not only were her designs displayed on a
calendar on display across the state, she
also won $529 for the PA 529 College
Savings Program. She also attended a
luncheon at the state Capitol.
Caley Camus, a Cecil Intermediate
6th grader, who was slected by the
Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation as one
of 10 students in western Pennsylvania to
have her design on one of the Pittsburgh
Penguins' holiday cards.
Allison Paxton, a Canon-McMillan
High School Senior, who was awarded
the Presidential Scholarship at Bethany
College—a full-tuition scholarship.
Reggie Hale, who works in the district
business office, for being granted a
Certificate of Enhanced Qualifications
in Information Technology from the
Pennsylvania Association of School
Business Officials (PASBO). In order to be
granted a PASBO Certificate of Enhanced
Qualification, a school business official
must demonstrate a high level of
competency in the profession by
successfully completing a series of
courses in a specialized area of school
business leadership.
The Canonsburg Middle School
MathCounts Team and sponsor
Ms. Jamie Iesue—the four-person
team earned second-place in the local
competition this past February.
Lauren Bizich, who was awarded a
$500 grant from the Washington County
Retired Teachers Association to be used
in the Canonsburg Middle School for an
interactive light up mural.
Drew Engel, Canon-McMillan High
School senior, for being featured in
the Observer-Reporter for all of his
contributions as a student, athlete,
and for all of his efforts in serving the
community.
CMS Dodgeball
Tourney Supports
Canonsburg
Food Bank
For the 10th year, Canonsburg Middle School
students used pump fakes, deflections, and
other dodgeball moves to help raise money for a
great cause: The Canonsburg Food Bank.
This year, CMS seventh- and eight-graders raised
$1,000 for the nonprofit group through its 10th
annual Charity Dodgeball Tournament and Food
Bank Raffle.
That means that over the past 10 years, our
middle school students have raised $10,500 for the
Canonsburg Food Bank on Pike Street.
Way to go, everyone!
