t is proven that early childhood learning has a profound
and lasting effect on the social and academic abilities of
young children. Their future educational opportunities
and career choices are directly related to literacy skills.
The state of Pennsylvania is fortunate to have an
established One Book, Every Young
Child program that highlights
the important of early literacy
development in preschoolers
and the significance of reading
early and often to children. Now
in its 13th year, One Book, Every Young Child has selected
My Cousin Momo as its featured book of 2018, which was
written and illustrated by Zachariah OHora. The book
was published in 2015 by Dial Books and is for children
ages 3 to 5.
• On Tuesday, April 10,
Frank Sarris Public Library
is honored to present a
special story time with
author Zachariah OHora and his featured book—My Cousin Momo.
Public session starts at 11:30 a.m. If you are interested in
attending this program, please register by calling the library
at 724.745.1308. Space is limited and
you must register ahead of time
for admittance. The program is
geared toward families with young
children.
• On another note, please mark your calendar to come to the library
parking lot on Murdock Street on Sunday, May 20, from noon to 6:00
p.m. because...
The Carnival is
Coming to Town!
It will be a day of family fun and, most important of all, it’s the first
day to sign up for our annual Summer Reading Camp, with a new
name this year: Summer Quest.
We have planned many events from spring
through summer. I hope to see you and
your family at the library. If you have any
questions or you simply want to connect,
give me a call at 724.745.1308 x2. I would
love to hear from you.
