Marketing, and was employed as a Medical
Sales Representative for Vanguard. His love
of sports, begun as a young athlete in Peters
Township, remained with him throughout
his life. He was particularly happy to work
as a cameraman for the Pittsburgh Pirates,
Steelers, and Penguins, as it provided the
opportunity for him to see the action much
closer than most spectators ever get to see.
Danny was devoted to his family and his
church, the Holy Rosary Church in Muse.
He was also a proud member of the Italian
Heritage Society of Canonsburg, and he
loved to cook.
A 501(c) (3) charitable corporation, the
Washington County Community Foundation
manages both endowed and non-endowed
charitable funds, with a total value of
approximately $20 million. Cumulatively,
more than $8.6 million in charitable grants
have been awarded in six broad categories of
arts and humanities, education, environment
and animal welfare, health and fitness, human

$7,000 GRANT FROM
DANNY DAPRA
LEGACY FUND
The Washington County Community
Foundation (WCCF) recently awarded a
$7,000 grant from the Danny DaPra Legacy
Fund to Canon-McMillan School District.
Members of the DaPra family met with
Canon-McMillan High School Athletic
Director Frank Vulcano, Jr., cheer coaches,
and cheerleaders to present the grant, which
will be used to purchase tumbler mats for
the cheerleading program and other school
activity groups.
When Danny DaPra died unexpectedly in
January 2005, family members and a close-
knit group of friends from Peters Township
High School created the Danny DaPra Legacy
Fund at the WCCF. The primary focus of

is youth programming
in Canonsburg and
Peters Township.
Danny attended Peters
Township, and his three
daughters, Gianna,
Celena, and Isabella,
attend school in the Canon-McMillan School
District. This is the first grant to be awarded
from the Danny DaPra Legacy Fund, which is
valued at approximately $50,000.
“Community was very important to Danny
and he loved sports, both as a player and a
spectator,” remarked Dennis DaPra, Danny’s
brother. “We felt this grant to purchase
tumbler mats for the cheerleading program
and other groups at the Canon-McMillan
High School was a perfect way to honor
Danny’s memory.”

A NIGHT AT THE RACES
The Greater Canonsburg and McMurray
Lions Clubs will present “A Night at the
Races” on Sept. 30 at the White Eagles Club,
located at 303 Adams Ave. in Canonsburg.
Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. and dinner will
follow at 6 p.m. Dinner is $10 per person and
the evening will include a Chinese auction,
