IN Brentwood-Baldwin-Whitehall Spring 2018 | Page 74
Each year, we celebrate the
achievements of a new senior class. Some
of these young men and women have
been Baldwin-Whitehall students their
whole lives, while others came to us from
other schools, cities, or countries. And no
matter their differences, they all have at
least one thing in common: they’re proud
to call Baldwin-Whitehall their home.
Meanwhile, another group of seniors
have known our region as home for even
longer, and their pride in our District spans
whole generations. Our senior citizens are
the bedrock of our community, and their
hardworking values, kindness, generosity,
and wisdom are treasured assets that help
to make our District such a strong, vibrant,
and welcoming home to lifelong learners
of all ages.

PLAN EVENTS FOR SENIOR CITIZEN
RESIDENTS
On December 11th, area seniors received a warm reminder of
the holiday spirit when more than 2,000 cookies were baked and
shared with local retirees during their day-long visit to Baldwin
High School. Culinary Arts and Nutrition students, employees,
and parents came together to bake 180-dozen cookies for local
seniors as an expression of gratitude for their important roles in
our communities and our lives.
“For many seniors,” says Superintendent Dr. Lutz, “this may be
their first visit to our schools in a very long time, and we want to
share with them our advances in education, technology, facilities,
and resources for students. We want to build bridges through
which our students will undoubtedly benefit from the vast
experience and lifetime of valuable knowledge that our senior
residents might share with us. And we want to say thank you to
our senior residents for their continued support and investment
in our schools.” Dr. Lutz hopes this event will become a new
holiday tradition for the District.
Seniors loved touring the school, meeting students, enjoying
holiday music performances, and, of course, taking home fresh,
home-baked holiday cookies. Special thanks to the bakers and
event team, BHS teachers, administration, board members,
culinary students, stage band, and Baldwinaires for their
outstanding work in bringing this event to life. April 8 Baldwin High School Musical,
