STUDENTS CELEBRATE ADOPTION WITH FAMILY PORTRAITS Students at Whitehall Elementary were invited to participate in an art contest for a nationwide celebration of National Adoption Day, recognized on November 18th, 2017. Allegheny County Children's Court sponsored a student art-poster contest for Kindergarten through eighth-grade students. The posters centered around the theme, "What My Family Means to Me." Many wonderful family traditions, experiences, and loving memories have been artfully crafted by the students' hearts and hands at Whitehall Elementary. The beautiful and thoughtful posters hung on the walls of the Allegheny County Children's Court where they will welcome new family members throughout the month. PAYING IT FORWARD While most youngsters spend December waiting for Santa to come, hoping for that new toy, Mrs. Fiorill's class took a different approach at Paynter Elementary. Throughout the month of December, her students made their own holiday wrapping paper and gift bags to sell. After making a profit of $280 on their hard work, they demonstrated the true spirit of the holiday season by donating the money to a worthwhile cause— the Baldwin High School Special Olympics Club. It was truly a great example of how our community gives back to one another! Eric Jankoski, co-sponsor of the BHS Special Olympics Club, was on hand to accept the donation from Mrs. Fiorill's class which will be used to purchase training equipment for the Special Olympics athletes from Baldwin- Whitehall School District. 68 BRENTWOOD-BALDWIN-WHITEHALL BUZZ TRANSPORTATION DEPARTMENT PRESENTS BIKES AND HELMETS TO TOYS FOR TOTS The Transportation Department at Baldwin- Whitehall School District is passionate about safety.
