Walking Trail Plan Moving From Concept to Reality

In spite of its urbanized location and dense composition , Brentwood Borough is blessed to contain a bounty of natural beauty within its borders . The municipally-owned tract of woodlands known as “ The Hollow ” provides a sliver of Appalachian Pennsylvania just a few short miles from the heart of a major metropolis . For decades , residents have accessed this tranquil location through informal paths . The Brentwood Walking Trail Committee is working to officially open this area to recreational use . This group is inviting members of the public to join this collaborative , community-driven initiative to develop Phase I of the project , which will see the designation of trail access points and the installation of wayfinding signage . Additional improvements , such as the creation of paved parking areas and the proposed construction of a dog park , will be considered for future phases . cKeesport rentwood

The Committee will also sponsor a Trail Maintenance Day to remove unsightly litter and unruly overgrowth from this otherwise serene area on October 29th . The event will take place at 10AM , and participants should meet at the intersection of Brentwood and East Francis Avenues . A second Maintenance Day will be scheduled for March 2018 . The Committee is also working out the details of a charity challenge run that is preliminarily planned to traverse this area on March 25th .
