T he Bethel Park Great Alumni Hall of Fame inducted five new members as its Class of 2018 on Friday, February 9. Inducted this year were: Robert “Computer Bob” Emmelkamp—Class of 1977 Taking full advantage of the first computer class offered at Bethel Park High School, Mr. Emmelkamp started his computer consulting business in 1978, providing expertise to many companies, including the California Angels, Charles Schwab, Cigna and the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation. He retired at age 45 to donate the majority of his time to helping non-profit organizations and has donated blood or platelets every month since 1986. His passion for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation began with his BPHS National Honor Society dance marathon days in 1976, and since then he has raised over $1 million for the organization through StairClimb events and personal fundraising. He has fostered collaborations with scientists and parents, which have led to numerous CF clinical trials. In 2017, Mr. Emmelkamp presented a poster he created on “The Changing Nature of Interactions between Research Scientists and Patients” at the European CF Society’s Science Conference in Portugal. Greg Kirstein—Class of 1972 Mr. Kirstein has devoted almost 30 years to bringing professional hockey to Columbus, the last 20 as Senior Vice President and General Counsel of the NHL’s Columbus Blue Jackets. With a core group of visionaries, Mr. Kirstein has also been a catalyst in the construction of nine ice rinks and the formation of some 25 high school teams and youth programs. He has served as President of the Chiller LLC ice rink company, Secretary of the Blue Jackets’ Foundation and an Adjunct Professor of Sports Law at Ohio State. A graduate of Ohio State’s Journalism School and Duquesne’s Law School, Mr. Kirstein received Business First’s Top Corporate Counsel Award in 2012, Duquesne Law School’s Distinguished Alumnus Award in 2016 and the 2017 Outstanding Alumnus Award from Ohio State’s Stadium Honors Dorm. His fondest Black Hawks’ memory is captaining the varsity basketball team. Jeffrey Klink—Class of 1975 Mr. Klink earned History and Law degrees from the University of Pittsburgh and served as an Allegheny County Assistant District Attorney and a Federal Prosecutor in Philadelphia and Pittsburgh, where he was the Lead Federal Prosecutor in a case involving the seizure of 1.5 tons of cocaine and the prosecution of 26 international defendants. He started Klink & Co. in 2001 and in 2008 created KlinkCheck Background Services, a pre-employment screening business, serving large public corporations and universities as well as law and financial firms, with offices in Pittsburgh, New ALUMNI HALL OF FAME INDUCTS FIVE
