BP Bethettes Celebrate 60 Years GROUP FOUNDERS LOOK FORWARD TO ANNIVERSARY WHILE REMINISCING ABOUT THE PAST. BY PAUL GLASSER P reparing for the 60th anniversary reunion of the Bethettes was a trip down memory lane for co-founder Donna Soulakis. “All of a sudden, it’s like being 17 years old again,” Soulakis says. She, along with her friend Barb Allan, founded the Bethettes in 1957. Bethel Park High School will honor the group during the band festival on Oct. 7. The Bethel Park Historical Society will also host a meet-and-greet event along with a display that includes an original Bethettes uniform. 48 724.942.0940 TO ADVERTISE | Bethel Park There were about a dozen founding members of the Bethettes and half of them were seniors. Soulakis, who now lives in Plano, Texas, has been able to contact three of the women who participated as seniors in 1957 but health concerns prevent Allan from participating. Only one other founding member, Pat Blockinger, will be able to attend. Blockinger, who still lives in the area, and Soulakis became friends in 1955 when they both moved to Bethel Park. They quickly resumed their friendship when in contact about the reunion.
