Introduction
Currently, the only motivation for a Hong Kong citizen or tourist
to throw their waste into the right place is their environmental
consciousness. Unfortunately, not everyone has the same level
of consciousness, as least not at the moment. Also, from our
interview, a lot of people has that consciousness but are too lazy
to take action. That’s why you see waste lying on the ground on a
daily basis.

Idea:
To motivate people to take more action, we propose to introduce
an incentive scheme. During the interviews with waste throwers,
we found out most of the waste people throw into street bins
are: bottles from drinks, food packaging / containers or tissue
paper. We want to focus on the first 2 categories. We also
found out, most of the food / snacks and drinks are purchased
in convenience stores. This is quite a unique practice in Asia
especially in HK, due to the hot weather and abundance of
convenience stores. We want to connect all the convenience
store and set up a recycling incentive network. This initiative will
be win win for all parties:

He/she can take the container / bottle back to any
convenience store for recycling Staff can scan the person’s QR code and the person will get
the points
Convenience stores:

- Drive spending and link up sales,
- Positive brand image
- Collect user data
