Details STEP 1 STEP 2 Person goes to convenience store to buy a drink / snacks He/she leaves the store and consumes it on the street Introduction Currently, the only motivation for a Hong Kong citizen or tourist to throw their waste into the right place is their environmental consciousness. Unfortunately, not everyone has the same level of consciousness, as least not at the moment. Also, from our interview, a lot of people has that consciousness but are too lazy to take action. That’s why you see waste lying on the ground on a daily basis. I’m O K Idea: To motivate people to take more action, we propose to introduce an incentive scheme. During the interviews with waste throwers, we found out most of the waste people throw into street bins are: bottles from drinks, food packaging / containers or tissue paper. We want to focus on the first 2 categories. We also found out, most of the food / snacks and drinks are purchased in convenience stores. This is quite a unique practice in Asia especially in HK, due to the hot weather and abundance of convenience stores. We want to connect all the convenience store and set up a recycling incentive network. This initiative will be win win for all parties: STEP 3 STEP 4 He/she can take the container / bottle back to any convenience store for recycling Staff can scan the person’s QR code and the person will get the points Convenience stores: - Drive traffic - Drive spending and link up sales, - Positive brand image - Collect user data SCAN 3 1 INSERT Drink CANS & BOTTLES & PLASTIC PACKAGINGS Street Cleaners: - Less workload 3 1 Government: - Raise awareness of recycling in a more actionable manner - Collect data Public: - Coupons and incentives - Gamify and social experience INSERT 2 2 SCAN SCAN THE QR CODE TO GET THE POINTS PRESS BUTTON PRESS 15:34 15:34 STEP 5 Redeem gifts / Coupon Gold Level Member 128 Design Change x Design Trust Once he/she gets to a certain level of points, they can redeem gifts / coupons at convenience stores Design Change x Design Tr u st 129
