Introduction - App
Through our interviews and street
observation, we found out most people
treat throwing waste a static and
routine action. One incident we observed
was, on a Saturday afternoon in Wan Chai’s
busy streets, a middle-age man was going
to throw his cigarette butt on the street but
then he saw a waste collector passing
by collecting waste and cigarette butts
from the orange bin. Then he decided
to put his cigarette butt into the bin. This
struck us alot and got us to think, how can
we humanize the whole garbage throwing
experience?

Idea
Besides the bin finder, there will also be a
content section in the mobile app aiming
to humanise waste throwing. Users will
see 4 types of content in the app.
- People: Stories of garbage collectors or
people doing inspiring things regarding
garbage and recyling
- Happenings: Information on volunteer or
education sessions for the public to sign
up to
- News: Any related updates for example
the launch of new garbage bin
- Feedback: Enable related departments
to send surveys to public to capture
feedback or run testings
