Introduction - Tracking
Currently, there is no data captured regarding
waste disposal, everything is done exactly
like it was 50 years ago. To get more insight
and optimise operation for example, bin
allocation, collector productivity etc, we need
to start making the bins smarter.
Idea
By adding a solar power panel, a weight
sensor and a wifi chip, the waste bin can be
upgraded into a smart version. It can send
real-time updates to related department,
vendors as well as collectors (in future). We
can have a better view on for example, which
bins are over used vs under used, which point
of the day are bins more busy vs less busy
etc. Based on these insights, we can make
decisions more wisely instead of shooting in
the dark,
