We first started with the people that throw their waste into bins, in this case, it literally means everyone living in Hong Kong or even people visiting Hong Kong. Since the goal of the a research was to go deep ie gathering insight and get inspired instead of validating idea, when choosing research format, we decided to use 1 on 1 in depth interviews (less people but spend more time per person) as opposed to surveys or focus groups (more people but less in depth). Based on the above, we came up with a set of recruitment criteria and recruited our interviewees accordingly. We had two goals when recruiting our interviewee: - have a diverse group of individuals with different attributes that may influence their behavior - look at extreme users as usually it’s extreme users that can inspire us for example understanding why someone love keeping HK clean or hate keeping HK clean are far more insightful than interviewing an average person who has no preferences 30 Design Change x Design Trust Design Change x Design Tr u st 31
