Don Kelly

Maintenance Supervisor, Bainbridge PSACT

During the events of Hurricane Michael, Don Kelly, the Maintenance Supervisor for Bainbridge Probation Substance Abuse Center, was instrumental in ensuring the safety of the center. Before the storm, he instructed his staff to begin their well-rehearsed storm preparation measures and focused on ensuring the emergency generators were working and the fuel tanks were full.

He secured all loose items in and around the facility and checked that all areas were braced for a direct assault. During the storm, Kelly remained onsite and advised leadership on the situation. He made frequent trips throughout the facility to check on the generators, the perimeter fence and to take wind speed ratings. Kelly worked more than 100 hours. Kelly’s actions define selflessness and dedication to duty.
