How does a Cellsense scanner work?

GDC began using the Cellsense scanners in various facilities to enable random screenings of inmates as they go about their daily tasks. The inmate will walk past the Cellsense tower as directed by the correctional officer.

The light at the top will give an indicator of green, amber or red.

The scanner detects all cell phones, on/off, with/without batteries, even mini key fob phones, concealed on or inside the body.

The scanner doesn't alert on items of non-interest like most jewelry, joint implants and stationary metal objects such as cell doors.
