I
MMUNS is an international
model
United
Nations
simulation hosted by the
American School Foundation of
Monterrey in Mexico. Delegates
will have the opportunity to
understand how the UN works
and create awareness for critical
world issues. Delegates will
also discuss and collaborate
with an extensive group
trying to reach a diplomatic
situation at the end of the
simulation. Delegates will
also deal with crisis topics
and have the opportunity to
participate in emergency
situations
and
find
solutions quickly. On the
long run, students who
participate will develop
skills of negotiation and
conciliation proven to
be necessary and vital
skills in our modern
world.
Delegates will be able
to enhance their leadership,
diplomatic, and persuasion skills.
Delegates will also understand
the importance for the need of
compromise and flexibility when
coming up with a resolution
for the topic at hand. Also, they
will be exposed to an array of
challenging and current world
issues that could possibly
change how the future of the
international
community
looks like. Delegates will
also learn and understand
the complexity of the
UN and how it works, in
addition, it gives a bird’s
eye view on diplomacy
and humanitarian studies
with international affairs.
Prior
to
the
simulation, delegates will
develop research skills, fine
tune their communication
skills and expand knowledge
on the cultural, economical,
political, sociocultural, and
historic issues. Delegates
can also perceive the
limitations and strengths
of the UN. It is the upmost
importance that students
that participate in the simulation
learn more through others and
perhaps even establish new
friendships. It is a glimpse into
the world of diplomacy.
