Fates Warning
L
ast year’s Theories of Flight album
put Connecticut prog-metal pio-
neers Fates Warning back on the
map. Despite taking nine years to record
its 2013 comeback album, Darkness in a
Different Light, it only took the band three
years to complete this one.
After a quick tour, the band took a
break and did shows with original vocal-
ist John Arch and the rest of that classic
lineup to celebrate the 30th anniversary of
its third album, Awaken the Guardian. The
band’s Keep It True XIX festival perform-
ance was recorded and released as a
2CD/DVD package called Awaken the
