Tom Prescott School of Humanities Making music with our hands Modern sound synthesis and processing techniques allow for the creation of a vast range of diverse musical material. However, due to the complexity of the software, their full potential often remains unexplored. Also, these systems can be very difficult to use and are not easily accessible to beginners. The MAES+IGA software aims to overcome these issues by allowing a user to create and perform music with the use of hand gestures .The movements of the performer are, with the aid of an artificial intelligence, mapped onto sound synthesis and processing techniques to allow for the creation of gestures with a clear connection between the movements of the performer and the sonic result.
