General Notes

It is important to understand that the accreditation process will commence as soon as your application fee has been received but that the accreditation verification process will on commence on completion of Step Five of the Accreditation Process (found on the Accreditation Application Page) and will take 2 – 4 weeks to complete.

Minimum number of clients. The IIC&M does not require you to have a minimum number of clients before you apply for your accreditation.

Coach, Mentor or Supervision. Although the IIC&M recommends that you have a coach, mentor or supervisor that you work with on a regular basis, it is not a requirement of your accreditation application.

Length of experience. The IIC&M does not require you to have a minimum length of experience before you apply for your accreditation.

Professional Indemnity Insurance. Although the IIC&M strongly recommends that you have professional indemnity insurance, it is not a requirement of your accreditation application.

Member before accreditation application. You do not need to be a member of the IIC&M before you apply for your accreditation. You may apply directly for your APC, ASC or AMC accreditation. The level of Fellow is considered by the IIC&M to be the pinnacle of coaching accreditation. As such, this level is usually reserved for those coaches that are making an outstanding contribution to their clients and the coaching profession in general. This level is generally ‘by invitation only’ and potential applicants are usually approached by the IIC&M, although we will consider applicants who apply to the IIC&M.

Self Assessment and Development Plan. Demonstrating your on-going Continuing Professional Development (CPD) annually allows the Accredited Coach (IIC&M) to be awarded their Professional Coach (IIC&M) representation. This is your next step. Therefore we recommend that you start to plan your own self-assessment and on-going development plan.

On completion of your accreditation you will receive an email showing your accreditation status. Where you have been successful this email will also include one or more CPD requirements for you to complete within 6 months. On completion of these requirements, you will be awarded your Professional Coach (IIC&M) status. To retain your Professional Coach (IIC&M) status you are required to submit your CPD log annually.

Should you not meet the standards required by the IIC&M to attain the accreditation level you applied for, the Intl. Head of Accreditation will contact you to discuss your options. These include a member of the Accreditation team working with you to achieve the standards required, or awarding you with an accreditation status lower than you applied for (with the exception of APC). As soon as you have had this conversation, and if required re-submitted the necessary documentation or recording, your application will be reprocessed. Please note: although there may be an additional charge made for this, you will not be asked to pay the full application fee again. The additional fee will be based on the areas that you are asked to re-submit.

On successful completion of your accreditation application, you will be notified by the Accreditation Team and your certificate and logo will be asent to you. At this point you will be able to refer to yourself as an:

.Accreditation, once granted, remains with the Coach for the length of the time that the Coach retains their accreditation with the IIC&M and pays their annual fee.

Demonstrating your on-going CPD annually allows the Accredited Coach (IIC&M) to be awarded their Professional Coach (IIC&M) representation. This is your next step.

In line with the IIC&M’s Standards and Ethics, please ensure that your level of accreditation is always mentioned and that you do not refer to yourself simply as an IIC&M Accredited Coach.

We hope that these Explanatory Notes explains the accreditation process in the fullest detail possible. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact the Coach Accreditation Department.
