Demonstrating your Coaching Skills

through one or more Coaching Sessions

It is preferred that you coach a member of the IIC&M Accreditation Assessment Team (a Skills Assessor), who will be an IIC&M Professional or Accredited Coach of a higher or the same grading as your application. In the event you select not to coach a member of the IIC&M’s Accreditation Assessment Team (a Skills Assessor) you will be required to submit live coaching calls in an MP3 or MP4 recording.

The coaching session is a 30 minute coaching session which is assessed against the IIC&M’s Coaching Core Competencies. The Core Competencies were developed by the IIC&M to promote an understanding of the skills and approaches that the IIC&M has determined as being desired in a competent Coach. The individual competencies listed under each Core Competency heading are essential for any competent Coach to demonstrate and form the basis of the criteria used in the IIC&M’s Skills Assessment process.

The coaching session is not an intake session but a normal coaching session. The Skills Assessor will be your client and they will chose a real-life current topic on the day of your call for this coaching session.

It is important that you treat the Skills Assessor as you would your client. It is recommended that you start the coaching call with a professional introduction and that you end the call as you would a normal coaching call.

The Skills Assessor will not provide you will completed forms or any information prior to the session about their chosen topic. This is not to make the coaching session(s) harder, but rather to allow you to demonstrate your ability as a coach, using the IIC&M’s Core Competencies.

All coaching assessments are conducted through Skype or through the IIC&M’s internet meeting provider and are recorded. Consequently the coaching sessions are not face-2-face and it is unlikely that the use of a webcam will be required.

No feedback will be offered at the end of your coaching session. If your Skills Assessor is willing they may stay on the call to answer any questions you have about the next stage of your Skills Assessment.

On completion of your coaching session you will receive an email giving you the link to your on-line Self-Reflection form with information on how to proceed.

Please note – an additional session may be requested. Although there may be an additional charge made for this, you will not be asked to pay the full application fee again.

Contact the Accreditation Department for any questions you may have about your live coaching session.
