I worked as a professional snake catcher for more than ten years, but I was still blown away by the respect that the locals displayed for this amazing snake. This was not always the case, however, and is largely a testament to the work being done by the ARRS. Ajay explained that the local people worship the smaller Spectacled Cobra (Naja naja); a species that causes far more deaths than the King Cobra. It is for this reason that Ajay devotes as much time as is necessary to education on each call-out. Our time at the ARRS really was a once in a lifetime experience. While at the facility, we also saw a variety of other snake species including Green Vine Snakes, cat snakes, Indian Rat Snakes, Bronzebacks, Indian Wolf Snakes, Large- eyed Bronzebacks, Spectacled Cobras and Malabar Pit Vipers. 3. 2 qtr page ad
