Nev goes North... ! 3 E K A T Neville Burns did not need to be asked twice to travel to a special forum of indigenous rangers in Far North Queensland. When I received a message to call my friend Joe Sambono, I certainly wasn’t expecting to be invited to present shows and training in snake relocation at a very special meeting of 300 indigenous rangers in Burketown, Queensland. I have been part of the local Indigenous peoples’ Naidoc Day celebrations on several occasions and have always enjoyed it, so I jumped at the offer. Joe had arranged for me to work with Euan Edwards, a friend and licensed Queensland exhibitor. Euan had by far the heavier workload as he had to bring the snakes, handling gear, pit and gazebo, and was also responsible for the Powerpoint presentation, while I had only to turn up with my audio system. I flew into Cairns late on the Sunday where I was picked up by Euan, his wife and their friend Molly, who assists Euan with the animals.
