Nichola Francis from South Australia sent in these photos of some Thick-tailed Geckos she is working with that display very unusual markings: ‘Some of my adults came from a guy in Adelaide, and others from a random girl on gumtree. The ones in the photos came from the same male, and I think the patterns started with him. I really wanted to try to produce something from the one with the stripes, but unfortunately my young daughter decided to ‘help’ in the reptile room and let it out. I hunted for days with no luck; my enclosures got locks the next day! I still have its clutch- mate and also two others, one from last season and one from earlier this season that I’m hoping to get some- thing from. Hopefully next season I will get something different as I’m going to try to find a female who may help to prove out the lines, either with my male or the young ones. I also have two eggs in the incubator that I’m hoping something nice will pop out from.’ Editor’s note: this seems to be a rare naturally -occurring form in South Australia. I had a very similar animal years ago that I was told originated from around the Port Lincoln area. Unfortunately, as is the case with many of these uncommon forms, it did not prove to be very vigorous and was difficult to reproduce in numbers. Good luck Nichola, and thanks for the photos!
