Reinventing the Classroom — Together
As the school year comes to an end, it’s important to remember
that our roles as educators stretch beyond this last round of
exams and report cards.
We have the privilege of helping students prepare — not just
for next year, but for a lifetime of learning and stewardship.
We also comprise something bigger ourselves. Each of us plays
a part in our flourishing community of teachers and faculty,
swapping and sharing new ways to inspire our students and
one another.
In this edition of Ignite, we highlight educators
across AOPS who are elevating the community and
craft by redefining what a typical lesson looks like.
We also explore tips for bringing those ideas into
your school.
One school is using rockets to inspire a new generation of
scientists and engineers, with surprising results. Another is
creating scholarships to help graduating elementary students
continue their Catholic educations into high school. And one
group of teachers is using virtual reality to take students on
field trips across the globe — and even into space.
I hope this issue’s stories spark excitement for you as they
did for me — bringing inspiration into your classroom, your
summer, and beyond.
Peace and all good things,
Christopher Mominey
Chief Operating Officer and Secretary for Catholic Education
