5 Ways Students Can
Impact Everyday Change
Even the smallest actions can make a big
positive change. Here are some Cultural
Diversity Club-approved ways for students
to improve the world, starting in their own
communities.
1. Find someone sitting alone at lunch, and
invite him or her to sit with you.
2. Have an open, respectful dialogue with
someone who has a different viewpoint.
3. Organize a community cleanup in your
school or neighborhood.
4. Help create a monitored kindness wall by
filling a bulletin board with encouraging
notes.
5. Find damaged or missing curb ramps and
report them for repair.
The message of everyday change resonated with the
club participants.
“You can set a positive example and get into a routine
of being kind, accepting, and fair,” says ninth grader
Bryanna Hawthorne.
There are more projects in the works, including a video
series designed to show viewers how to avoid using
hurtful language and stereotypes. The club hopes to
continue expanding its membership and its mission.
While progress might feel slow, the students are eager to
continue making their contribution — one day, and one
conversation, at a time.
