HOW TO CREATE A PICTURE USING FRACTAL FLAMES

I used fractal flames to create an image that had been
combined with a photograph I took earlier. I went into a
computer program called Apophysis and learned how to
create pictures using an automatic fractal flame generator.
I decided what the theme of the picture was going to be and
worked from there. I decided it would be about the seasons.
So the program generated a number of different choices
of fractal flames and I picked one of them. There was a
range of colour palettes and I chose four of them to create
my seasons. Considering the first season is Spring I chose
a green based palette to create my image. For the other
seasons I picked appropriate colours.

Having rendered all these flames with transparent
backgrounds I was then able to use these as layers in
Photoshop Elements. My top layer was a photograph I took
of the flowering Lobelia in my garden, I erased parts of the
photograph leaving areas underneath where the flames would
show. After rotating and rearranging the different flame
pictures I then finished the picture with a bottom layer of
black.
