Stowe Garden, by ukgardenphotos
Take the classic form of a dry stone
wall. These have adorned our
fields for centuries. The artist Andy
Goldsworthy gave them a modern
twist in his series “Sheepfolds”,
where he renovated and
reinvented dilapidated sheep pens
in Cumbria and, unlike Andre’s
pile of bricks, you won’t find them
conveniently located in the centre
of a city; you have to search them
out in the countryside.

He also works with natural
materials (such as flowers,
mud, ice, leaves, twigs,
pebbles and boulders),
to create works that
are temporary and that
after photographing are
absorbed by nature once
more. Check out more
of his work with nature
