University . I stayed after school to play games on the computer , the games program loaded via a cassette tape recorder . Games like Rocket , that I could never get the hang of , where you gave instructions to a rocket to land it safely on the moon based on written information of its current position and heading . I always crashed – not so different from me on Mario Kart nowadays ! It ’ s all a bit of a contrast to modern gadget laden homes .
If I had to pick just one childhood d science memory it would be from 1969 , when my parents woke me up in the middle of the night to watch Neil Armstrong step out onto the surface of the moon . As I write this article , robots are taking over manual labour , fridges can order food for you , driverless cars are under serious development , objects can be levitated by sound and plans for a quantum computer have been published by the University of Sussex , with expectation of a working prototype within 2 years . Whatever the future brings it is bound to be amazing .
