Ukraine’s president, Viktor Yanukovych, has been removed from power. He was in office from 2010 to 2014. In November, he refused to sign a trade agreement with the European Union. When he later signed a loan deal with Russia, peaceful protests began. Protesters called for elections and a new government. To read more about this story please click here. Featured Art 7. Scientists have developed a new power generator. The generator is a thin disk, which has two plates inside that rub against each other. This produces small amounts of static electricity, which can be used to power things like lights or radios. Small versions could even be worn on our body and powered by our own movement! Devices like this could make a big difference in the fight against climate change, as it generates ‘free’ power without the need to burn fossil fuels. Featured Story 8. Language & Culture 9.
