The Follies project is now finished; did it achieve your ambition for it, and/or take you in directions you didn't expect? The project was one of the most challenging and rewarding things I have ever done essentially, it was one problem-solving exercise after another. At the same time, it pushed me as an artist, and challenged me, and helped me grow - it was a wonderful journey. What advice would you offer to young adults who are thinking of a career in the arts? Honestly? Prepare to work very long hours for very little financial reward. Understand that, unless you are successful and can employ people for these things, very little time of an artist is spent 20 IGNIS actually creating - at the same time as being an artist, you are a publicity expert, a writer, a photographer, a teacher, a web designer, an accountant, a project manager. You need initiative and problem-solving skills...and quite thick skin. Art is personal, so people take it personally, and they may not be flattering. My project was fairly straightforward that way, and people "got" what I was trying to do, but the more conceptual you get, the more you need to be prepared for people to disagree with your view of the world.
