Q. How do I live a more positive life?

A. Now whether you have a mental illness or not staying positive can be hard. Here are some tips I use.

1.) Wake up and get ready head to toe. It makes you feel like you’re ready to face anything!

2.) Drink plenty of water and try and keep a balanced diet. Now this might seem odd on a positive living tip list but a healthy body equals a healthy brain!

3.) Encourage yourself!

Remind yourself that you are doing exactly what you should be doing, the best you can do it.

4.) Cut out anything that makes you think negatively whether it be a friend, a YouTube channel, T.V or even a routine! If something is making you feel down change it!

5.) Think of how many things you’ve been blessed with daily. We seem too loath in self-pity and bring ourselves down. If we wake up and remember what we have instead of what we don’t have we will lead a more positive life.

I hope one day the silence will be broken and more people feel safe to talk about their issues. Mental illness isn’t a choice, just like being sick isn’t a choice.

I’m not going to tattoo my story on my forehead, or scream it from sky scrapers but if I’m asked I’ll tell it. My parents both suffer anxiety; my mother also suffers from PTSD and depression. I grew up knowing that if I was having problems to talk to them but some people aren’t as lucky. Try talking to a counselor or therapist so you can get appropriate help. Whether you have understanding parents or not.
