Safeguarding society and reducing reoffending Serco delivers justice services on behalf of governments in the UK, Australia and New Zealand, and wider services to governments and citizens in many countries. Like you, we share a deep passion and commitment to build better lives for offenders who come into our care. Our staff are your citizens, the prisons we operate are part of your community, and our commitment is to deliver a reduction in reoffending in the countries we serve. We build better lives in a variety of ways. We treat people with respect and compassion, we focus on education, skills and training, and in preparing offenders for release we provide support at critical stages. We continue to learn and adapt as justice responds to new challenges, such as new drugs and technology. Many of these changes are also great opportunities to be harnessed, such as deploying technology in prisons for both staff and offenders, alongside implementing designs that create positive prison environments, and fostering a staff-prisoner culture that is supportive, respectful and leads to better lives for offenders. We have captured our approach in our case studies and hope these provide ideas as to what may work for you. Please have a look at these on our stand in the exhibition hall. Our Justice teams from the UK and ASPAC look forward to meeting you. On behalf of the ICPA and Serco, I offer you all a warm welcome to day two of the 2017 ICPA conference.
