In less than half an hour from Arachova, the sight is separated from the mountain landscape and travels to the endless blue of the Corinthian Gulf, which
“embraces” this quiet little town. Usually a stopover between Delphi and Galaxidi, but it is definitely worth more time and certainly it will drift you to its cool
rhythms! The large pedestrian waterfront, the Akti Posidonos in front of the main road with the marina, the cafés and the taverns is perfect for a relaxed walk
against the background of the sea, a coffee under the sunshine and fresh fish next to the waves. Moving towards the… interior, large pedestrian streets and
squares filled with trees make the walk, to become acquainted with the city, more pleasant, while a visit to the Church of Metamorfosis tou Sotiros is also
worth it. The Church is an impressive building with wall paintings even in its exterior, with a history dating back to 1890. Continuing with a direction to the
east towards the main coastal road after 2 km you will find the coastal residential area of Kirra, with archaeological findings evidences of its existence since
the first Greek period (3.200-2.000 BCE), while it was once the most important port in the Gulf of Corinth. In its alleys you will see scattered monuments of
different periods. Also, here you will find small traditional taverns ideal for ouzo and meze. During summer, the crystal clear beaches of Itea (Trokadero, Miami,
Vrahakia, Agios-Giannis etc.) some of which have been awarded with a Blue Flag are packed with people, while the less known islands of Itea in the Krissaios
Bay –which during the byzantine era where mentioned as shelters- are amongst those you must discover if you have a boat for diving in their blue waters.
