Ό ΑΠΌΛΌΓΊΣΜΌΣ & Η ΑΝΌΊΚΌΔΌΜΗΣΗ ...
Μετά από 32 ώρες οι Αρχές κατάφεραν να ελέγξουν τη φωτιά , αλλά τώρα η Θεσσαλονίκη θύμιζε βομβαρδισμένο τοπίο ... Το 1 / 3 της πόλης είχε καταστραφεί πλήρως , αφήνοντας άστεγους περισσότερους από 70.000 ανθρώπους , ανάμεσα στους οποίους οι πιο πολλοί ήταν Εβραίοι , αφού η φωτιά « χτύπησε » κυρίως την εβραϊκή συνοικία . Η περιοχή που κάηκε ήταν κυρίως μεταξύ των οδών Αγίου Δημητρίου , Λέοντος Σοφού , Νίκης , και Εθνικής Αμύνης . Αν και δεν γίνεται σε κανένα αρχείο λόγο για νεκρούς , είναι σχεδόν βέβαιο ότι η φωτιά είχε θύματα , με μερικούς να μιλούν για Γάλλους στρατιώτες που κάηκαν παγιδευμένοι σε κτήρια . Τώρα το μεγάλο στοίχημα ήταν η ανοικοδόμηση της πόλης ... Ο Ελευθέριος Βενιζέλος ήταν ο πρώτος που υποστήριξε ότι η πόλη πρέπει να αποκτήσει νέο « πρόσωπο », γι ’ αυτό και ανέθεσε στον υπουργό Συγκοινωνιών Αλέξανδρο Παπαναστασίου τον πολεοδομικό σχεδιασμό της . Με απόφαση του Παπαναστασίου ιδρύθηκε « Διεθνής Επιτροπή Νέου Σχεδίου Θεσσαλονίκης » με πρόεδρο τον Ερνέστ Εμπράρ για την εκπόνηση ρυμοτομικού σχεδίου . Χάρη σε αυτό το σχέδιο , αν και δεν εφαρμόστηκε κατά γράμμα , η συμπρωτεύουσα κατάφερε να αποκτήσει μια πιο σύγχρονη όψη και να αναγεννηθεί μέσα από τις στάχτες της ... Φέτος , με αφορμή τη συμπλήρωση 100 χρόνων , η Θεσσαλονίκη οργάνωσε ειδική εκδήλωση με τίτλο « Έγινε η σπίθα πυρκαγιά ». Στις 23 Σεπτεμβρίου 2017 όλη η πόλη ... πάλεψε ξανά με τις φλόγες σε ένα μοναδικό υπερθέαμα , στο οποίο άνθρωποι από τον καλλιτεχνικό χώρο και όχι μόνο παρουσίασαν με έναν σύγχρονο τρόπο την ιστορία των θλιβερών αυτών ημερών , κάνοντας ειδική μνεία στο όραμα του Εμπράρ , χάρη στον οποίο η Θεσσαλονίκη δικαίως βρίσκεται σήμερα ανάμεσα στους πιο όμορφους ευρωπαϊκούς προορισμούς !

ΜΕ ΑΠΟΦΑΣΉ ΤΟΥ ΠΑΠΑΝΑΣΤΑΣΊΟΥ ΊΔΡΥΘΉΚΕ « ΔΊΕΘΝΉΣ ΕΠΊΤΡΟΠΉ ΝΕΟΥ ΣΧΕΔΊΟΥ ΘΕΣΣΑΛΟΝΊΚΉΣ ». PAPANASTASIOU DECIDED TO CREATE AN “ INTERNATIONAL COMMITTEE FOR THE URBAN PLANNING OF THESSALONIKI ”.
THE OUTCOME & THE RECONSTRUCTION PROCESS 32 hours later , the Authorities managed to put the fire under control , but Thessaloniki seemed like a bombarded landscape . 1 / 3 of the city was fully destroyed , leaving more than 70.000 people homeless . Amongst them , many Jews as the fire had mostly struck the Jewish residential areas . Totally destroyed was the area within Aghioi Dimistriou , Leontos Sofou , Nikis and Ethnikis Aminis Streets . Although there was no record of victims , it is almost certain that the fire caused casualties , as some French soldiers were considered to have been burned trapped inside buildings . Now the large bet was the reconstruction of the city . Eleftherios Venizelos , was the first to say that the city had to obtain a new “ face ”, therefore he authorized the Minister of Transport , Alexandros Papanastasiou , to design the urban planning of the city . Papanastasiou decided to create an “ International Committee for the Urban Planning of Thessaloniki ”, chaired by Ernest Hebrard , to undertake the city ’ s street planning . Although this plan was not fully implemented , Thessaloniki managed to gain a contemporary profile and to become reborn through its ashes . This year , at the completion of the 100 years , Thessaloniki organized a special event entitled “ The Spark that turned into fire ”. On September 23rd 2017 , the whole city … was confronted once more with the fire in a unique spectacle during which people from the artistic world and others provided a modern presentation of these sad days , paying tribute to Hebrard , thanks to whom Thessaloniki is considered today one of the most beautiful European destinations .
