Few individuals have changed the course of the world like Martin Luther King , Jr . His vision was for a future of freedom , where equality is the norm and every life is honored , respected and valued . His peaceful protests set an example for countless disenfranchised groups from all walks of life . From those he marched with in Selma , Montgomery and Birmingham to name a few , to other human rights groups and activists who learned from him that love always speaks the loudest . Reared in the pews of Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta , GA , this scholar wasn ’ t necessarily a musician per se , but his words and work have inspired musicians from the sixties to today . As one of only two Americans ( the other being George Washington ) whose birthdays are recognized as a national holiday , it ’ s only appropriate and more than a pleasure to honor his legacy , and share the works of others who have taken it upon themselves to make their works of art part of his continued legacy .
