Lawrence Lavelle Landers , or THIRDL , may not seem the likeliest of candidates to elevate that status of Urban Gospel , but if his history is any indicator , THIRDL excels in proving people wrong . Born in Chicago and raised in St . Louis , he had an understanding of God for most of his life , but when he got mixed up with a dueling crew in college , a darkness set in , resulting in criminal charges and even multiple suicide attempts . In 2002 , he signed to Tribe Records , with whom he released From the Streets . He released another album in 2004 , which continued creating traction within industry circles . In 2012 , his third project , C . R . E . A . M . ( Christ Rules Everything Around Me ), affirmed his position as a mainstay on the Urban Gospel
