LWPT Grants Through the generous donations of our supporters, LWPT is able to offer grants to individuals in need of financial help to enable them to undertake courses that will assist them in their vocation of preaching. “I’ve felt a call to ‘full-time’ ministry for some time now, the beginning of which led me to resign from my post in Germany as a Biomedical engineer and start an English Language Course in the UK. Although I enjoyed my job, I knew the Lord was calling me into something new. I am now studying a BA in Applied Theology at Moorlands College, focusing on preaching and communication, which I feel is key as I want to share the gospel in the most effective way I can. My grant from LWPT will make a tremendous difference, and will enable me to continue my course and perhaps relieve a little of the financial pressure.” Daniela, LWPT Grant Recipient “My path into ministry was an interesting one! I studied theology (BA Hons with London School of Theology) originally not intending to enter into pastoral ministry. After some time I gradually started to realise that the path God was leading me down was towards ministry in a local church. But I didn’t have the opportunity to study preaching or some of the other more practical elements of pastoral ministry. I learned ‘on the job’ so to speak. God blessed me with some generous retired ministers who helped me on the way from their own considerable experience. Now, five years into my first pastorate, I want to take the time to invest into my future ministry. As part of my Baptist Accreditation studies I became aware of a Master’s degree in preaching. This really appealed to me for a number of reasons. Firstly, it was ‘in service’ so I could study alongside my full time ministry. Secondly, it was focussed on an aspect of ministry which I believe requires deeper thought for the world in which we live: preaching. And thirdly, I had been feeling a need for more structured study, which this course certainly fulfils. After prayer and conversation with my church I decided that this was a moment prepared by God to benefit not just me, but my church and my future ministry. I am learning a great deal through this study. It is a course centred on the idea that theology is an intensely practical discipline. This has really challenged me to consider how I make the move from studying the scriptures to taking God’s word to the hearts and minds of my church congregation.” Dan, LWPT Grant Recipient If you would like more information about LWPT grants, or are considering making an application, visit us online at lwpt.org.uk/grants, or call the LWPT office (see page 1 for contact details).
