© An update on Copyrights information You may remember that in our Summer 2015 issue of Ichthus, we included an article by Wendy Corney on how churches can obtain the correct licenses for hymns and songs. Wendy has kindly provided us with an update on this information, which suggests that individual churches should be able to reduce the cost of buying licenses in the future. Calamus Licence (covering Ateliers et Presses de Taizé, Clifton Music, CJM, Decani Music and many more) You can obtain a Calamus licence for a entire circuit, the cost of which would depend on the number of churches to be covered and the total number of people attending those churches on a Sunday. For more information, contact Sue Dean at Calamus ([email protected]) or visit www.decanimusic.co.uk. Calamus, Oak House, 70 High Street, Brandon, IP27 0AU Call: 01842 819 830 CCLI (covering Kevin Mayhew Publications, Oxford University Press, Thank You Music and others) CCLI offers a concession called a ‘Combined file’. If the criteria for this concession is met, we allow two local churches from the same denomination to be put together on one file and the category size is determined by adding together the attendance numbers at the main service for both of the churches. To meet the criteria, one of the churches in the pair must have a regular attendance number at its main service of 25 people or less. The other church can be any size. CCLI, Chantry House, 22 Upperton Road, Eastbourne, East Sussex, BN21 1BF Call: 01323 436 100 A note from the Chair of LWPHomes Those of us who have had, over several years, the privilege of visiting the Westerley Christian Care Home in Grange-over-Sands and enjoying the attractive home, delightfully situated overlooking Morecambe Bay and providing a ‘safe haven’ for the residents, will inevitably feel a very real sense of loss at the news of its closure. But we can rest assured that no decisions were taken without much careful and prayerful thought, not just for the residents and their relatives, but also for our loyal and dedicated staff. For many years Westerley has served as a beacon, poised close to the water’s edge and with commanding views across the Bay, an area noted for its treacherous ‘sinking sands’ but equally recognised for its beauty and potential. At this time, of course, we look back on happy times and uplifting experiences and we thank God the creator for everything achieved at the home. We truly can find encouragement and strength in the words of Joseph Hart who wrote in his much loved hymn ‘This, this is the God we adore...We’ll praise h im for all that is past, and trust him for all that’s to come’. Graeme Garden, LWPHomes Chair Correction to error in Spring edition It is with sincerest apologies that we must correct an error made in the previous edition of Ichthus. We had erroneously believed that Michael Helliwell had passed away and listed him in our remembrance page. We are relieved to confirm that Mr Helliwell has not passed away and we apologise unreservedly for any alarm this may have caused. Page 2
