How your donations make a difference! GRANTS CASE STUDY: ADRIAN HODDER In this edition of Ichthus we hear from Adrian Hodder, a student at Oak Hill College who received a grant from LWPT last year. Last year I completed my degree in Theological & Pastoral Studies at Oak Hill Bible College. The three years of study that I completed there were incredibly beneficial for my future ministry, strengthening my convictions in God’s power, and giving me a good grounding in many theological areas. I believe God has been calling me into pastoral ministry for many years. I was given opportunities to preach from my late teens onwards and always felt the privilege of bringing God’s word to his people. I was encouraged to pursue my preaching gifts further. The grant helped to pay for Bible Study software that helped both my studies and my current ministry. It contains many helpful resources for preparing sermons, such as good quality commentaries, and various original language helper tools. I am now assistant pastor at Woodford Evangelical Church, preaching most weeks and continuing to grow and develop my pastoral gifts. I am grateful to God for his kindness in providing for me at every step of my journey. Thank you to LWPT for your kind support. ■ “We had four women, from all different walks of life. It wasn’t a statement from the organisers. The judging was all done blind, but that was what stood out for me about it.” Louisa Lockwood, Editor of Preach, said: “We have been delighted at the interest and conversation generated by Sermon of the Year, and heartened by the consistently high standard of the entrants: we wholeheartedly encourage applicants regardless of level of skill to enter. “Sermon of the Year continues to show us that preaching is alive and well and still one of the most powerful agents of transformation in the church.” Adrian pictured with his wife Pippa 2 LWPT LWPT 3
