The Leadership Committee &
Class Representative Advisors
Mother Pia
Heritage Society
As part of our overall Mission
Advancement program, we are
developing plans to acknowledge
and honor in a formal way those who
have made bequests to ICA and those
who plan to do so. Specifically, we are
considering establishing a “Maria Pia
Backes Society.”

In November 2007, the Alumnae Steering Committee was established and is
now known as the Alumnae Leadership Committee & Class Representatives.
Since that time the Leadership Committee has grown and includes many class
representatives from each decade.
Our objectives in the Strategic Plan include:
• Promote the welfare of the school
• Support the students, one another and the larger community
• Be proud of our Alma Mater
The objective of the Leadership Committee:
• Drive the strategic direction
• Increase alumnae participation
• Provide service outreach to alumnae
The objective of the Class Representatives:
• Update class lists
• Encourage participation in alumnae activities
• Be a point of contact about the sick and deceased alumnae

Over the past several years we have
received, gratefully, more than one
“surprise” bequest. One came from
an alumna we thought we knew well.
Wonderful as it was, her surprise gave
us no opportunity to acknowledge and
thank her in life. We are working on
a program that does that. To make it
work, we need information.
Planned gifts need not be substantial
to be important. If you have included
ICA in your will or trust, let us know. If
you have a friend or classmate who has
such plans, encourage that person to
tell us.
Mother Maria Pia Backes encouraged
her Sisters to work for “the young, the
poor and the vulnerable.” At ICA we do
that daily and in many ways. Planned
giving, the establishment of bequests,
is one of those ways. Let us know your
plans! §
